On the way home from work I was fantasizing about all the things I can eat when this is over. Then I had to remind myself, this will never be over! I will not be able to eat the way I did if I want to stay healthy and no longer have diabetes. Then I threw a fit in my mind and then I got over it and looked for more information. Phewsh. This
page from the Blood Sugar Solution website finally helped clarify some things in terms of what I can eat after the six weeks. What I have to remember is that my body is re-setting. My metabolism and insulin sensitivity will be re-set, but until then, I need to stay rigid.
You're fantasy is coming true - you in charge! Keep it up Tasha - That list from the website is pretty extensive. Things to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteYes! Thanks lady.
DeleteTash, that food page you posted from the book doesn't look too limiting. 4 weeks will go by quickly and you will begin to normalize!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
Love, Dad
Thanks Dad, I think you're right.
DeleteAhhh I feel like posting a million things...
ReplyDelete1. if you want some more specific advice about sugar/food you can always go to an RD or a nutritionist with an accredited degree. When I was having food issues I got help from Dana Sturtevant at Be Nourished. http://www.benourished.org/
2. I was off sugar only for about 1 month and felt a lot better. And after reading books like Health At Every Size and Intuitive Eating I don't really eat candy anymore like I used to. Every once and awhile when I'm stressed I pick up the habit again. And not too long after that I get a migraine or I get depressed. In other words my body tells me that I've been eating too much so I stop. And I think it will be that way for you, too. It feels nice because I feel like I have a better relationship with my physical self than I used to and one of the markers of that is my body communicating with me in that way. Something to look forward to, I think.
Funny- I attempted to make a couple appointments with Dana a few years ago but bailed. I took a training at Be Nourished (which included HAES and Intuitive Eating stuff). I use it with my clients, and sometimes myself. I would like to implement it more, and connecting with Dana would be a good idea. Thanks Sal!
